GROVE PARK: Firefighters battle early morning pub blaze

A FIRE gutted a pub in Grove Park early this morning (August 10).

The London Fire Brigade was called to the Baring Hall Hotel in Baring Road at around 1.15am.

Twenty firefighters from Downham, Lee Green and Bromley fire stations battled the flames for more than two hours before bringing the blaze under control at 3.30am.

Firefighters who attended the scene near Grove Park train station say smoke alarms alerted the occupants to the fire, who all managed to safely get clear of the three-storey building.

Around 80 per cent of the pub’s ground floor was damaged by the fire, which is now under investigation by brigade bosses.

Glad to see no one was hurt, but can't say I'm sorry about the pub being gutted.
