FAMILY members have appealed to the community to talk about a shooting which left a father-of-one dead.

Nathan Williams, aged 24, of Kennington was found in a VW Golf suffering from gunshot wounds in Ludwick Mews, New Cross at 1.30am on July 28.

Mr Williams had been two-thirds of the way through making a three point turn at the end of the road when he was shot through the window of his car.

An ambulance took him to Kings College Hospital but he was pronounced dead at 2.11am.

Family members joined police last night (August 3) to hand out leaflets on the street where Mr Williams died and speak to residents.

A mobile police station was brought to the road and officers stopped cars along New Cross Road until 2am to mark a week since the killing.

Cousin Zena Hinds, 29, said: “He was a very ambitious and a hard worker.

“When he went off to university it was a big step for him. He was the first boy in our family to go to university.

Police believe his attackers were already in the road when Mr Williams arrived and are looking for four men aged from 15 to 20.

Detective Chief Inspector Gordon Allison from the Met’s Operation Trident said the victim had come to meet “a friend” in the road, which neighbours say was his girlfriend.

He said: “It’s tragic - he’s been shot dead in his car for no apparent reason.”

No arrests have been made.
