WHAT'S On The Cards, the title of a presentation by Alan Payne, proved a fascinating talk covering the history, fortune telling and conjuring magical mystique to be found in a pack of playing cards.
The development from a tall thin card on bone in the 13the century in China to the present day pack of cards and the reasons behind the formation of a pack was full of interest.
While one will be tempted to observe the cards and their special features, one must not get distracted from the game in hand. An excellent evening.
