Greenwich and Bexley Cottage Hospice in Abbey Wood, London is giving people the chance of winning its weekly jackpot of £1000 as well as 40 other great cash prizes.

The first draw will take place on Friday July 31, 2009.

Anyone over the age of 16 can sign up to the weekly draw at just £2 per week and each week £1500 in prizes will be awarded, with one lucky winner scooping the £1000 jackpot.

Lottery Manager, Stacey Booth, says: "The weekly lottery will play a vital role in our overall fundraising activities as a regular contribution towards the annual running costs of the Hospice. It will help us to continue to provide the level of care to the people of Greenwich and Bexley who need it most."

The Hospice lottery, which currently has 520 members signed up and ready to play, (with more people joining each day), is aiming to recruit 1000 members by the time of the first draw on July 31.

In a drive to recruit more members, the Hospice has created a Twitter page at http://twitter.com/cottagehospice which 'tweets' (in 140 characters or less) the latest lottery news and details of upcoming fundraising events.

Greenwich & Bexley Cottage Hospice provides specialist palliative care to local people suffering with life-threatening illnesses.

All of their services to patients and their families are provided free of charge, but this care doesn't go without cost as it takes approximately £6million to run the Hospice each year.

The Hospice offers a wide range of services including a 19 bedded in-patient facility, day care centre, carer support, outreach work, a lymphoedema service, complementary therapy and creative arts helping people to enjoy a better quality of life and enabling them to do things they thought they would never do again.
