LONDON: Nine-year-old child with swine flu dies

A NINE-YEAR-OLD child is the second person in London to die after contracting swine flu.

The child, from south London, had "serious underlying health problems", according to a spokesman for NHS London.

It brings the total number of deaths of people with swine flu in the UK to five.

London, along with the West Midlands, is a swine flu hotspot.

The child is the second person in the capital to die after a 19-year-old man from Lewisham and also with serious underlying health problems, died last week.

A further three people with swine flu have died in the UK and all had underlying health problems.

im noticing a theme....that everyone who dies with this has "serious underlying health issues"

Perhaps it was the straw that broke the camels back and we shouldnt make as big a deal about swine flu as reported in the media. I havent heard of anyone normal catching this and dying yet...although i might be wrong.

Saying that, my sympathy goes to the poor young girl and her family.

Lukeyboy, are you implying that people with health conditions aren't normal? It's early days, worldwide 30-50% of the people that have died have had NO underlying health conditions.
