A NEW horticultural training initiative has been launched by TV star James Nesbitt.
The Thyme Out project will help 40 people with learning difficulties improve their independence and life chances with free horticultural training.
The three-year project run by the Bromley Field Studies Centre will see participants gain new skills and qualifications as well as basic literacy and numeracy skills.
Executive councillor for renewal and recreation Julian Benington said: “We are demonstrating leadership as a major employer giving on-the-job experience that not only broadens the clients’ daily experience, but may open new employment opportunities for some of them.
“I hope this is just the first of many such schemes.”
Thyme Out has been set up with £308,000 of lottery funding plus cash from Bromley Council and other agencies.
