Chairman Anthony Rosier revealed ambitious plans for Edgware Town after sacking manager Dave Kelly last week.

Rosier believes the club can literally rise from the ashes and make a push for the higher reaches of non-league football, with exciting developments off the pitch and a back room staff capable of producing a winning team on it.

The club were rocked earlier this season when there was an arson attack on the White Lion Ground clubhouse, but Rosier has confirmed that work on a total refurbishment of the premises will soon be underway.

"The insurance company has set aside £500,000 for fixtures and fittings," said the Town chief. "We are going to have a brand new bar with a full pub menu and new televisions, and we will be looking at catering for parties and other events to generate extra revenue for the club.

"We've got to grow as a club and my ambition over the next five years is to get us into the new Conference system. We are only two leagues away from it, so we need to get more people down to the club and more money. If we can get more money into the club, we will spend it on the wage bill.

"A higher wage bill means better players and that is the only way you can progress as a football club."

Rosier said he sacked Kelly due to the club's poor league position - they are currently 13th. He is hopeful a new coaching set-up headed by Solomon Abrahams and Paul Roberts will improve performance on the pitch.

"I had to sack Dave because results were just not good enough. I gave him and his team a qualified physiotherapist who also works for Arsenal and a first-team physiotherapist from Leyton Orient, and yet the team still didn't improve.

"So we decided to change the management team and hopefully we can make progress up the league."
