YOUNGSTERS and parents got the chance to experience riding on a mini steam train and raise money for charity.
The Gravesham Model Marine and Engineering Society run a miniature railway every Sunday during the summer.
And on June 7 they donated their £100 takings for the day, attended by up to 50 people, to disabled children’s charity Whizz-Kidz.
The society’s secretary, Ed Horn, said: “Steam trains seem to be perennially popular.
“The children enjoy it, most kids and parents don’t know of steam trains.
“But there’s something about them that seems to live on.”
Rides on the 1,200ft track take place every Sunday from 2 to 5pm at Cascades Sports Centre, Thong Lane, Gravesend.
