MOTHERS will run a stall at a summer fete to raise money for their campaign to fund a playground for their community.

Kelly Hazeldine and Jennifer Tremain will sell doughnuts and run a tombola at the Hawley Fete in Hawley Road from 11.30am to 3.30pm on Saturday (June 13).

Both women live in Barton Road in Sutton-at-Hone, and since May 2007 have been fundraising to build a playground in Jubilee Field.

Mrs Hazeldine, a 35-year-old mother of three, said: “Children in Sutton-at-Hone have nothing to do as there is no youth club or playground, so they hang around on the streets and get into trouble.”

They have raised around £10,000 so far through donations and a grant from Dartford Council, but a new playground will cost almost £40,000.

Mrs Tremain, a 30-year-old mother of two, said: “We hope to raise a couple of hundred pounds more towards the cause at the fete.”
