MUMS say they will fight to the end against a council’s decision to close a primary school.

At a Greenwich Council meeting on May 19, cabinet members decided Charlotte Turner School, in Benbow Street, Deptford, will shut in August.

But angry mothers of pupils at Charlotte Turner have vowed to continue their fight against the plans.

Today five mums are outside the school, which is being used as a polling station for the European elections, asking voters to support their campaign by signing one of two petitions, for and against the school’s closure.

They will then present them to the council at a town hall meeting on June 24.

Consultation results saw only one person agree with the closure and mum Kym Bozek, of Henrietta Close, Deptford, says it was a sham.

The 41-year-old said: “We’re trying to get people coming into the school to vote to come and do their own little vote with us to see whether they agree Charlotte Turner School should shut or whether they agree it should stay open.

“We want to be able to say to all the councillors who voted to close the school that the public was with us not against us and you didn’t take any notice of the consultation and you’re not taking any notice of these votes that are being put to these papers today.

“We’re not going to give up without a fight and we’ll fight to the end.”
