A WOMAN accused of lying in court to protect murderer Dano Sonnex has named her newborn baby after him.

Laurent Bonomo and Gabriel Ferez, both 23, were tied up and stabbed a total of 244 times in Sterling Gardens, New Cross, on June 29 last year.

Sonnex, aged 23, of Etta Street, Deptford, and Nigel Farmer, aged 34, of no fixed address, have been convicted of murdering the students.

Fay Culyer appeared at the Old Bailey during the murder trial, heavily pregnant with the child of Mr Sonnex's older brother Bernie, claiming she and the father were no longer together.

But on the Facebook website the 36-year-old from Streatham refers to her son, born during the trial, as "Bernie's little soldier", and reveals she has named him Alfie Dano Bernie Sonnex.

And Bernie Sonnex, who was said in the trial to be a "celebrated local criminal", refers to himself and Miss Culyer on the same website as being married.

During police interviews and a magistrates' court appearance Miss Culyer claimed both Dano Sonnex and Nigel Farmer admitted killing the two students to her and Bernie.

But while giving evidence to the Old Bailey during the murder trial, she dramatically changed her evidence and claimed Sonnex had never admitted the murders.

She told the court: "The part of my statement where it said that Dano confessed - that was wrong."

When asked if she was afraid of anyone or had spoken to Bernie in the run-up to the trial, she said he was "supporting" her.

Ms Culyer had also originally claimed Dano Sonnex asked for a "tool", meaning a gun, before he went on the run after the murders.

But she told the court she had meant Sonnex wanted "a screwdriver or a spanner".

Farmer's defence counsel John Ryder revealed during the trial that on October 4 last year, after an accident near Herne Hill, Miss Culyer spoke to a police officer about the case.

He said: "You discussed parts of what both Nigel Farmer and Dano Sonnex had said to you and you said that you feared for your safety.

"You feared for your safety because you were giving evidence about Dano.

"You said that when he finds out he'll ask Bernie Sonnex to kill you."

But Miss Culyer denied this and said: "I was off of my face that day on heroin."

During the trial it was revealed how Miss Culyer and Bernie would regularly take both heroin and crack cocaine.

Miss Culyer, who also had a fling with Mr Farmer, has three other children by different fathers, one of whom is currently in prison.
