To support a city-wide initiative aiming to encourage Londoners to explore their capital and discover its famous and forgotten stories, Greenwich-based public arts organisation Stream has devised a novel idea to share local stories. Peninsula Voices is a new audio walk — presented as part of Story of London — where explorers of the borough can listen to anecdotes of the peninsula from people who live and work there.
Stories include coronation parties, tales of falling into the river, history of street names, recalling a walk home from school and a first day at work and the transformation of the area from Gasworks to Dome to The O2.
Peninsula Voices, June 6. Start from Stream Rothbury Hall, Mauritius road, Greenwich. Call 020 8858 2825 to book. Free.
