A FUNDING shortfall that would have left Bromley borough “woefully short” of resources to provide further education is to be recouped.
Bromley Council was left £1.2m short of its expected budget of £25.6m following the latest round of Government funding for post-16 education in 2009/10.
After concerns were raised by council education chiefs, the 4.4 per cent shortfall is now set to be reinstated.
Portfolio holder for children and young people Councillor Ernest Noad said: “This success marks a triumph of representation.
“I am delighted that the Government is indicating that it will reinstate the originally proposed funding levels for this financial year.
“Without such a step, Bromley would find itself woefully short of the necessary resources to support our sixth forms in equipping young people with the skills they need in later life.”
