A MOBILE road show giving advice on preventing violence against women was joined by the deputy leader of the Labour party.

The lorry carrying the slogan 'help us to keep all women safe' made its way down Lewisham High Street on May 6 before stopping at the town's main shopping centre.

Harriet Harman was on hand to talk to residents about the Government's online consultation aimed at finding ways of making women and girls more safe at home and in there community.

Domestic violence experts were also on board to hand out free advice, personal alarms, and information on staying safe.

Ms Harman said: "Violence against women is unacceptable and often has a devastating effect on children and we will continue to do all we can to tackle it."
