A MUSEUM will be bringing the past to life with an event celebrating the area’s history.
Firepower, the Royal Artillery Museum, at the Royal Arsenal in Woolwich, will be holding its first community history day on Saturday (May 16) from 10am to 10pm.
Visitors will be able get advice on tracing their family tree from Firepower’s own genealogy experts, see displays of vintage photographs of the Arsenal, and take part in a guided tour of the complex in the evening.
Lectures will also be given on the history of the museum’s medal collection.
Residents from Woolwich, Plumstead and Thamesmead will be able to visit the museum for free all day with proof of identity.
A Firepower spokeswoman said: “We want to showcase the heritage of this fascinating part of south-east London and highlight how people’s own history may be entwined with the history of the Royal Arsenal, Woolwich and perhaps the Royal Artillery.”
