AN MP has praised an after-school club set up to improve GCSE results after seeing it in operation first hand.
Gravesham MP Adam Holloway visited The Fleet Learning Zone at Ebbsfleet United Football Club in Stonebridge Road, Northfleet, last Friday (April 24).
The Learning Zone, which was established in January and runs after school Monday to Thursday, helps children aged nine to 13 getting average results at school improve their literacy, numeracy and IT skills.
Pupils from schools across Gravesham attend, and funding comes from the Government, Kent County Council and Ebbsfleet United’s sponsor, Eurostar.
Mr Holloway said: “I’m very impressed by the learning zone, as it is a way of getting children learning in a fun environment.
“Anything that helps children leave school with at least a grade C in GCSE maths and English is a very good thing.”
