A COUNCIL is holding a special flag raising event for the armed forces and merchant navy veterans.
Gravesham Council wants any residents who have served in the armed forces or merchant navy to get in touch if they want to take part in the event which happens on June 22.
A special “Fly the flag for the armed forces” flag will be raised at the Civic Centre in Windmill Street, Gravesend, at 10.30am and there will be music from the Salvation Army band followed by a reception for veterans afterwards.
This flag will be one of many raised nationally which will be flown until Armed Forces Day on June 27.
Anyone who wishes to take part should call Gravesham Mayor, Councillor Ken Jones’s secretary, on 01474 33 72 60.
