AFTER five years a Bromley bowling club has finally got a new pavillion after the old one collapsed.

The South Hill Wood bowlers welcomed Bromley mayor Councillor Denise Reddin to formally open the new building and kick of the season by bowling the first ball on the green.

The previous club house at the site in Tootswood Road, Bromley, collapsed due to subsidence.

Bromley Council, the Beckenham and Bromley District Bowling Association and South Hill Wood club members contributed the money for the rebuild.

The club is holding an open day to welcome new people who may be looking to join on May 9 from 10am until midday.

Club member Andrew Osborne said: “Everyone was worried we would never get a replacement so we are thrilled that we’ve got it.”
