A PEDESTRIAN has been knocked down and killed while crossing the road in Harrow Manorway, Abbey Wood.

Alexander Reed, aged 39, of Rideout Street, Woolwich, was pronounced dead by paramedics at the scene near the junction with Overton Road, at 6.36pm on Sunday.

Mr Reed was hit by a red Land Rover Discovery.

A post-mortem examination at the Princess Royal University Hospital in Farnborough revealed Mr Reed died from trauma and bleeding to the heart.

An inquest is due to be opened into Mr Reed’s death at Croydon Coroner’s Court tomorrow (April 30).

  • A 58-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of drink-driving in relation to the incident.

He has been bailed by police until July, pending further inquiries.
