STAN Hollands gave a fascinating talk to the club on April 22 entitled A Goldsmith’s Art.

He explained his apprenticeship to the Goldsmith’s Guild in 1938, as well as detailing the tools and equipment he used.

He illustrated his talk with slides of the beautiful artwork he had produced over the years.

Commissions received from Royalty and state both here and abroad were undertaken with skill and enthusiasm and Mr Hollands explained the methods used to create these works of art.

These pieces were usually gifts for visits and special occasions.

Being a keen photographer, Mr Hollands kept numerous photographs of his work in a large album.

Members were amazed at the beauty and quality of his work and were enthralled by his presentation.
