A FOUR-year-old boy was sent flying through the air after the rider of an off-road bike ploughed into him in an alleyway.

Police are now appealing for information regarding the incident which took place at around 3.51pm yesterday in the path connecting Sevenoaks Way and Main Road in St Paul’s Cray.

The child, who was with his twin sister and mother, was rushed to Queen Mary’s Hospital in Sidcup with head injuries.

His 25-year-old mother heard a motorcycle being driven down the alleyway and told her children, who were riding little foot-powered scooters, to stand still by her.

A police spokesman said: “A black off road mini moto came tearing along the alleyway and struck the four year old boy, throwing both him and the scooter flying about five feet down the alleyway.

“The driver skidded and fell off the motorcycle, before looking at the victim - who was unconscious and was bleeding - getting up and fleeing the scene on the motorcycle towards Main Road.”

The man riding the bike is described as having brown hair, denim trousers, dark blue top, aged between 18 to 20.

The London Ambulance Service treated the boy at the scene, before he was taken to hospital.

A police spokesman said: “Thankfully scans revealed that he had not received any serious injuries, but he was kept in hospital overnight for observation.”
