A TODDLER is in hospital with multiple injuries after falling from a fifth-floor window.

The two-year-old boy fell more than 25ft from the top of a block of flats in Lethbridge Close, Lewisham, and landed on a ledge on the second floor.

A neighbour saw the boy fall at around 6pm on April 18.

Yvette Bishop, aged 36, who lives in the same road, said: "I saw the baby fall like a stone. It was so horrible.

"He hit the ledge which sticks out from the second floor. The mother was leaning out of the window and crying and screaming because she couldn't see where he was.

"The fire engines arrived really quickly and they put a ladder up to get him down safely."

The married mother-of-five added: "No one seems to know who the family are but apparently they have left the flat for good.

"They can't stand to be in the flat anymore after what happened."

Two fire engines were called to the scene and firefighters rescued the toddler by lifting him through a second floor flat window.

He was taken to King's College Hospital by ambulance and is currently in a high dependency unit suffering from multiple injuries.
