COMIC Relief saw police sweating, shaving and getting soaked to raise money.

Around £500 was raised by officers and staff at North Kent Police Station in Thames Way, Northfleet, on Friday (March 13).

The wife of one detective got a shock when he walked through the door after work with his hair shaved into a reverse mohican style.

DC Spencer Albone's haircut raised £137, and he said: “My wife was fine about it when she found out how much I’d raised.

"My hair needed a cut anyway so I thought 'why not do it for Comic Relief'.”

A 12-hour gymathon was held where 24 volunteers each ran 30 minutes, one at a time, while sporting a red nose, raising around £100.

Leading the way was area commander Chief Superintendent Paul Brandon, who ran the 6am slot.

Two PCSO's also got a proper soaking when they signed up for a session in the stocks at Longfield Academy in Main Road.

Tony Quilter and Linda Down put on their best brave faces as sponge after sponge was thrown at them during their 15-minute challenge, which raised more than £40.

Another £215 was raised by staff at the station’s canteen in a raffle and cake sale.
