During Science Week youngsters can enjoy a scientific day of discovery at Down House as part of English Heritage’s celebration of Charles Darwin’s double anniversary dates in 2009.

On March 14 and March 15 children can take part in fascinating and fun Science Station sessions at Darwin’s home of 40 years, Down House.

Marking the 200th anniversary of Darwin’s birth and the 150th anniversary of the publication of his master work On the Origin of Species, the event will give aspiring young scientists an insight into the life and work of the great man.

The activities take place at Darwin's family home, where he conducted ground breaking experiments which would ultimately provide inspiration for one of the most controversial scientific theories ever witnessed.

Down House reopened on February 13 with a new £1m permanent exhibition celebrating and exploring Darwin’s life and work.
