MANY pensioners in Dartford found out they are entitled to more cash from the Government on Thursday (March 12).
Currently pension credit is available to residents aged 60 or over, with single people getting £124.05 per week and couples getting £189.35, but many do not know they are entitled to it.
Representatives of the Department For Work and Pensions put this right for around 60 people when they gave out free advice from a stall in the car park of the Priory Shopping Centre in Dartford during the market.
Minister for pensions and the ageing society MP Rosie Winterton said: “Around 3,470 pensioners in Dartford and 4,770 pensioners in Gravesham are getting pension credit but there are more who could be getting extra money but haven’t claimed.
“I don’t want anyone to miss out on what they’re entitled to so we took the message to the streets.”
