THE entire bible is being read out loud over the course of 10 days at a church in Bromley.

St Mary’s Church is holding a biblethon between 9am and 9pm every day until Sunday (Mar 15), where 150 speakers take turns reading the bible.

At the biblethon opening on Friday (Mar 6), Orpington MP John Horam and Bromley and Chislehurst MP Bob Neill both read passages.

On display at the College Road church is a large banner designed by pupils at the Ravensbourne School, Hayes Lane, Bromley, depicting scenes from the bible.

Youngsters at Parish Primary School, London Lane, Bromley, have also contributed illustrations of the Fruits of the Spirits.

Organiser Peter Fall said: “The biblethon aims to re-establish the bible as a book for the church and culturally for people.

“To hear it read out loud is an unusual experience.”

For the climax of the event on Sunday, all those who have read passages over the 10 days are invited back to the church to read the final chapter in chorus.
