A SAUSAGE seller has been voted the top independent business in his borough.
David Rundel, who runs ‘The Sausage Man’ stall by the Clock Tower in Lewisham Town Centre, was announced the winner of Lewisham’s annual Who Do You Love? competition on March 6.
The Lewisham Council-run competition, now in its fifth year, saw Japanese restaurant Sapporo Ichiban in Winslade Way, Catford, finish in second place.
Mr Rundel said: “Winning this award is fantastic.
“Thank you to everyone who voted for me, especially my regular customer who I see all the time. It means a lot to have people's support.
Presenting him with the award, Mayor of Lewisham Sir Steve Bullock said: “Mr Rundel, The Sausage Man, seems like a really great character, very cheerful and enterprising.
"I’ve tried one of his hot dogs and it was delicious.”
