A RAILWAY worker was rescued from the embankment near Orpington station after becoming trapped under a tree.

The man, who is in his 20s, was part of a crew clearing trees by the Sevenoaks Road railway bridge when he fell down the bank.

He was suffering from neck and back injuries and could not move so emergency services were called to rescue the man at around 12.30pm yesterday (March 12).

Paramedics gave him medical treatment before he was put on a stretcher and firefighters used their hydraulic platform to lift him to the roadside.

He was then taken to the Princess Royal University Hospital, Farnborough, by ambulance.

Sevenoaks Road was closed at 12.57pm and reopened at 3.03pm yesterday afternoon.

It is not known whether he fell from a tree or became trapped under one of the trees which had been chopped down.
