A GOLF club will hold a charity auction to help raise money for wounded soldiers.

Chislehurst Golf Club in Camden Park Road, Chislehurst, has chosen the Help for Heroes organisation as its charity for 2009.

A drinks and presentation evening on April 4 will help raise funds, while organisers have also lined up a charity auction.

Tickets for the evening cost £15 and will include canapes and entertainment from a military quartet.

Former Petts Wood resident Major Phil Packer will also give a speech during the evening. Major Packer was left paralysed after a rocket attack in Iraq last year.

He is now trying to raise a million pounds for Help for Heroes.

A spokesman for the golf club said: “This evening is the first of three fundraising events throughout the year.

“We at Chislehurst Golf Club have a chance to make a difference to the lives of those in our armed forces who have been wounded and severely injured.”

Help for Heroes was launched in October 2007 by a group of friends and service relations who wished to do something to help the wounded coming back from Afghanistan and Iraq.
