Members of Shenley Women's Institute enjoyed a presentation about bell-ringing at their recent January meeting in the village hall.
At the talk, which was entitled Pull The Other One, they were told about how, years ago, thirsty bell-ringers would go to the pub instead of going to the church service, until the vicar decided to pay them at the end of the service.
The members also learned how bell-ringing sounds could be changed, and six of them were given the chance experiment on handbells.
