TEENAGER Rob Knox fought with a man who then stabbed him to death, the Old Bailey heard today.

Karl Bishop is accused of murdering 18-year-old Mr Knox on May 24 last year outside the Metro Bar, Station Road, Sidcup.

He is also charged with wounding five of the Harry Potter actor's friends with intent to cause GBH.

The Old Bailey heard from 15-year-old Jamie Wells, who described how friend Sammy Mehmet had argued with Bishop on the evening of May 23 outside the Metro Bar.

He said Bishop threw the first punch before Mr Mehmet hit him back.

Mr Knox then came running from the bar, the court heard, and hit Bishop.

Jamie said the defendant was eventually pulled into an Audi car which drove off again.

A short while later Jamie saw Bishop again outside the Metro Bar, first armed with one knife, then with two.

Jamie described how Bishop was punched and then stumbled before waving his knives around to warn people away.

In a police statement Jamie said Bishop "looked panicked".

He described how Mr Knox ran over to Bishop and the statement said: "He knocked the bloke to the ground by placing his leg between the bloke's legs and elbowing him hard towards the bloke's face and neck area.

"Rob hit him so hard his back smacked against the ground. I saw Rob kick him hard about three times."

The statement went on: "I saw about eight of the people who had been standing nearby close in and they were all kicking the bloke who, although he was still on the ground, was still throwing his arms around holding the knives."

"He looked as if he was trying to create space."

The witness said he was standing with another friend of Mr Knox, Nicky Lee Jones, when he was stabbed through the right hand.

Joey Russell, aged 21, told the court how he had been out at the Metro Bar with other members of the Eltham Town Colts football team one week before when he also clashed with Bishop.

He claimed Bishop wrongly blamed another friend of Mr Knox, Dean Turner, for pushing him and punched Mr Turner in the nose.

Mr Russell then said several friends including Mr Knox and himself started punching the defendant while Bishop was "lashing out".

Later Mr Russell saw Bishop fighting with another man and claims that when he stepped into help, he was attacked by Bishop.

After meeting up with this friends, Mr Russell then saw Bishop yet again, this time in Old Farm Avenue.

The witness said Bishop was goading them while carrying a piece of wood.

As the police turned up, he claims Bishop said: "I'm going to kill you. I'm going to come back."

For the defence, Ian Bourne said Bishop had been the victim on that occasion and was outnumbered.

Bishop, aged 21, of Beaver Lodge, Carlton Road, Sidcup, denies all the charges against him.

The trial continues.
