A 21-YEAR-OLD man accused of murdering Rob Knox predicted a week before that "someone's going to die", a court heard.

Mr Knox, 18, was stabbed five times on May 24 outside the Metro Bar, Sidcup, after running out to protect his brother.

The Old Bailey was told today (Feb 9) that Karl Bishop, of Beaver Lodge, Carlton Road, Sidcup, was "running amok" outside the bar.

Brian Altman, prosecuting, said: "At the time Bishop was armed with two quite ordinary but two quite lethal knives which had come from his kitchen."

The previous week, on May 16, Bishop began accusing Mr Knox and his friends of stealing his mobile phone.

He turned his attention on Dean Saunders, known to his friends as 'Peter Crouch' because of his height, But Mr Saunders pushed him away and Bishop went off, coming back later armed with a piece of timber.

The court heard he left again but before he did so, said: "I'm going to come back next week and someone's going to die."

The following week on May 24 Bishop tried to get back into the bar but was turned away.

He was later involved in a fight with another young man before escaping in a car, the court was told.

Later, Bishop confronted threatened Mr Knox's younger brother Jamie and one of Mr Knox's friends, Nicky Lee Jones.

After Jamie phoned his friend Charley Grimley, Mr Knox rushed outside the bar just as Bishop was on his way.

Mr Altman told the court that Bishop had stood outside the bar brandishing two knives while a "crowd mushroomed in size around him".

He said Mr Knox rushed out to protect his brother.

Mr Altman said: "Robert Knox thought the world of Jamie and it's quite clear and entirely understandable that Robert must have believed on good grounds that Jamie was in danger.

"Unhappily, his courage and his sense of duty were to cost him his life."

He threatened the crowd that he would stab anyone who came near him, the court heard.

Andrew Dormer took his chance when he saw Bishop put the knives back in his pocket and during the melee that followed, Mr Knox was stabbed five times, with one fatal wound to the chest.

Mr Dormer, 16, was stabbed in the chest, while Nicky Lee Jones was stabbed in the hand.

Mr Grimley was stabbed in the face, Tom Hopkins was stabbed in the head and Dean Saunders was stabbed in the neck, suffering spinal damage.

At the time of the events Mr Knox had just finished filming Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince and was looking forward to appearing in the next film.

Mr Altman said: "Robert was just one of a number of young people who, over the past year or so have fallen victim to the terrible scourge of knife crime in London."

Bishop has pleaded not guilty to murder and wounding five others with intent to cause grevious bodily harm.

The trial continues.
