A NIGHTCLUB has had its licence taken away following a two-day hearing.

H20 nightclub in Gravesend High Street has had its licence revoked following the Gravesham Council hearing which finished today.

Chairman of the panel, Councillor William Dyke, gave a number of reasons for why the club has been shut.

These included selling alcohol to underage people, failing to keep satisfactory CCTV footage and door staff not searching people correctly.

Cllr Dyke said: “This decision has not been taken lightly but we acted in the best interests of the borough.”

Borough commander of north Kent police Chief Superintendent Paul Brandon applied for a review of the premises licence at H20 in December.

The application had been submitted to the council, which is the licensing authority, on the grounds the club has failed to comply with licensing conditions.
