A ROAD has been closed in Blackheath following an incident this afternoon.

Between 20 and 30 police officers attended Westcombe Park Road opposite John Roan School at around 3.15pm.

Police are not confirming what happened but nearby residents report seeing police officers take a dog into a block of flats on Vanbrugh Park Road.

Vaughn Clough, aged 63, who lives around the corner from the scene in Colleraine Road, said: “We have been asking the police what is going on but all they will say is that there has been an incident.

“It is clearly something serious if it needed so many officers.

The retired teacher added: “The police arrived shortly after school closing time.

"Then later in the afternoon we saw around five policemen and a dog enter the tower block next door to the school.”

At 7.30pm Westcombe Park Road between Vanbrugh Park Road West and Vanbrugh Park Road was still sealed by police.

The block of flats in between these roads was also sealed.
