Thamesmead Town 2-1 Ware
THAMESMEAD remain unbeaten in five matches after a convincing home win against high-flyers Ware.
In a half with few chances, Mead found it hard to find their feet, but were happy to go into the dressing room at half-time with the score goalless.
The Mead came out with renewed vigour in the second half and were in the lead after 52 minutes.
A perfect cross from the right by Danny Moore reached the head of Rob Tarrent at the far post who nodded home the first goal.
The lead was doubled 10 minutes later. Debutant Byron Walker was clear through on goal before being bought down in the box. With the penalty awarded, Lew Wood stepped up to convert.
Brian Hammatt clawed a goal back for Ware on 66 minutes, latching on to a long ball forward to strike home.
Mead managed to hold out, but the visitors nearly snatched a point at the death with a strike on goal hitting the post.
With one defeat in the last eight matches, Thamesmead will now be looking to climb the table.
