TWO police officers and a PCSO have been summonsed for perverting the course of justice.

Police Sergeant Marcus Garvey, aged 44, of Chantry Close, Abbey Wood, PC Wayne Campbell, aged 40, of New Road, Medway, and 22-year-old PCSO Stef Loftus of High Road, Ilford, are all based at Eltham Police Station.

They appeared at City of Westminster Magistrates' Court on Thursday (Dec18) following an investigation by the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC).

The probe related to a man who was arrested on suspicion of possession of cannabis in Kidbrooke on January 26.

He was subsequently charged and went on trial at Woolwich Magistrates’ Court.

But the case was dismissed after a digital voice recording was played in court which called into question evidence given by the officers and the PCSO.

An investigation took place and a report was passed to the Crown Prosecution Service which decided the officers and PCSO should be summonsed for perverting the course of justice.

The case has now been transferred to Southwark Crown Court
