MOTORISTS looking for a place to park over the festive period can park for free in pay and display bays on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.
Council-run car parks will also be free to use on Christmas Day.
However, council bosses have warned that outside of those dates normal parking restrictions will still apply across the borough.
The council’s parking manager, Ben Stephens, said: “Many of us have lots of things on our minds at this time of year, and where to park understandably is not at the top of the list.
“We’re also aware that many people will have friends and family staying with them over the festive period.
"So, please remember to look at the parking signs and the lines painted on the road to avoid receiving a penalty charge.”
