CHILDREN and adults quick-stepped, tangoed and waltzed to victory at the grand final of a national dance competition.

Ballroom and Latin dance centre Dance Wise, in Footscray Road, Eltham, entered 23 children and 30 adults in The Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing’s national competition in Blackpool.

Four children and 12 adults came first place in various dance style categories in the competition on November 29 and 30.

Winners received a blue sash in recognition of their achievement.

School principal Martin Bishop said: “Dance is a hobby for most students but it is taught in a disciplined way while still being fun.

“It helps the children grow as a person and the kids really enjoy feeling they have progressed in something. The competitive aspect is great preparation for life.”
