Radlett colts gain revenge

2:46pm Wednesday 6th June 2001

Radlett U11s won their first home match of the season recently, beating North London U11s 67-5 to 66-6.

This victory reversed the outcome of last term's clash between these two sides, which saw Radlett suffer a heavy defeat.

After putting visitors North London in to bat, Radlett took three early wickets through John Mansell and Niki Veale, and further good bowling restricted the guests' score to 66-6 in 20 overs.

However, North London's reply saw them remove four Radlett batsmen, out for ducks.

Radlett opener Parag Shah's cool head helped guide the hosts to eventual victory with five wickets still standing. He was ably supported by Duncan Burton in the latter stages. Radlett triumphed 67-5 with three overs to spare.

*Radlett's U11s beat Harpenden U11s 83-5 to 82-4 in a friendly on Thursday evening at Cobden Hill.

Visitors Harpenden got off to a good start with some brisk batting, but tight bowling from Radlett's Matt Soffair, Bhavick Shah and Sagar Morjaria pegged them back to a total of 82-4.

Radlett made a slow start in reply but Nick Robinson's arrival helped them to pick up the pace. Before Soffair and Duncan Burton saw Radlett home with three overs to spare, Shaz Gitay made a reasonable debut, surviving five overs before retiring.

*Radlett's unbeaten U13s continued their good form with a victory over North Mymms U13s last week.

Radlett, having won the toss and decided to bat, went on to post an impressive total of 122-2 off 20 overs.

North Mymms, in reply, never got off the starting blocks, and only reached 64-7. Radlett's man-of-the-match Alex Canfor-Dumas added to North Mymms' problems with an impressive three over spell.

*Radlett U15s' disappointing early season form continued when they lost to North Mymms U15s 116-1 to 86-4.

Strong batting saw hosts North Mymms post a challenging total of 116-1 in their 20 overs.

Radlett, after losing three wickets with only 18 on the board, managed to salvage something from this game through good knocks from captain Rory Young and Mark Gray, whose partnership helped the Cobden Hill youngsters to 86-4.

*Radlett U12s lost a Herts eight-a-side encounter with Chorleywood earlier this week.

Playing at home, Radlett were defeated 207-5 to 206 all out. Radlett's leading batsman was Myles Beerman and Neil Lederman was the pick of the bowlers.

Last Thursday, Radlett's U12s, missing a number of key players, lost away to a strong Langleybury U13s side 58-1 to 57-7. Radlett's innings of 57-7 featured a superb display of strokeplay, including a six from promising Jeremy Talbot.
