RESIDENTS are being encouraged to recycle their Christmas trees once the festive period is over.
Lewisham Council will be providing several collection points where residents can leave their old trees.
Last year more than 7,000 Christmas trees were collected, shredded and used for compost in Lewisham’s parks.
The council’s cabinet member for customer services Councillor Susan Wise said: “We would love people to think green again this year by taking their trees to any of the collection points around the borough and having it recycled.”
Collection of old trees will run from December 27 until the last week of January.
