A MUM told of her disgust after she almost swallowed a cooked cigarette butt served in a curry.

District nurse Wendy Michaelis, 52, of Broadwater Gardens, Farnborough, was sick after spitting it out.

She and husband John, 42, who have sons David, 16, and Adam, 12, ordered a curry from Village Cuisine, in Farnborough High Street.

Mrs Michaelis said: “It was like a nightmare. Even thinking about it now makes me feel sick.

“We were all tucking into the takeaway. Mine didn’t taste right. I spat out a cigarette end and was sick.” The family took photographs of the meal with the butt and after no response from Village Cuisine for several days, called environmental health officers.

At Bromley Magistrates’ Court on June 11, Spice World Catering, trading as Village Cuisine, pleaded guilty to selling a chicken tikka masala takeaway meal containing a cigarette butt.

The company was fined £500 and ordered to pay £845 costs.

Village Cuisine was unavailable for comment.
