the streets were awash with colour as hundreds got into the carnival spirit.

Children and adults kicked-off the third Quaggy Carnival with a parade round the Coldbath, Orchard, Lethbridge and Heathside estates.

The multi-coloured costumes seen in the procession came about after youngsters from schools and community groups got together with arts group Emergency Exit Arts.

The parade snaked its way back to Morden Mount Primary School, in Lewisham Road, where the official opening of the festivities took place.

Events and activities, which ran until the early evening, included live music, dancing, DJing, youth projects, Indian head massage and face-painting.

The third carnival held by the Quaggy Development Trust was supported by organisations including Single Regeneration Budget 6 Health Benefits programme, Greenwich Development Agency and Greenwich and Lewisham Early Years Partnership.
