FRESH fish and chips will be just a stone’s throw away for villagers wanting to treat themselves to the popular national dish.
The old post office, in Green Street Green, Darenth, will serve up battered cod and chips after councillors overruled an officer’s recommendation to refuse planning permission.
Owner Mohinder Ner assured councillors he would ensure the area around the shop would be litter-free.
Councillor Ian Armitt said: “We think it will provide a useful amenity and fill a space which has been empty for a long time.”
