STEPS are being taken to stop vandals destroying property and disrupting the wildlife at a park lake.
Posts will be dug into Swanley Park Lake, in New Barn Road, to stop youngsters squeezing their boats around the back of the island, where they have vandalised CCTV cameras and disturbed the wildlife.
The warden complained he was unable to see what the vandals were doing once they were at the back of the island.
He added the CCTV cameras installed to help him keep watch on the lake were being targeted by vandals and, therefore, were not working properly.
Town councillors agreed to the measure at a meeting on June 25, while also noting the lake’s water level has returned to normal after gallons were lost in a leak last year.
