A DEAF woman whose lies sent an innocent man to prison was warned she could face jail.
Alison Welfare, aged 26, of Lancing Road, Orpington, used a sign language interpreter to admit making false statements.
Welfare pleaded guilty to perverting the course of justice at the Old Bailey.
The charge was in relation to an incident between August 20 and November 6, 2002.
Mr Recorder Nicolas Valios said: “This is a very serious charge. It has resulted in the incarceration of a man for two months.” Welfare was remanded on conditional bail and scheduled to return for sentencing on August 5.
The hearing was on June 27.
