IT IS just 10 days, and we are counting, until Bexley’s biggest event of the year — the Danson Festival.

Held in beautiful Danson Park, in Danson Road, Welling, the festival will be packed full of enough fun, entertainment, thrills and spills to suit everyone.

There will be four stages, including a traditional bandstand, music and community stages, a dance area and a sports arena.

And the Tribute to the Stars show with songs, dancing and memories spanning five decades promises to be a really special attraction.

Tom Jones, Kylie Minogue and Tina Turner will be just three of the stars featured.

Also playing will be the Bogus Brothers, who played at Ronan Keating’s birthday party as well as Caroline Corr’s wedding.

For the first time the show will have tiered seating for 350 people.

But music will only be part of the festival. Are you tough enough for the army’s climbing wall and interactive display?

The Swamp Circus mixes music, comedy and acrobatics while, in the cycle zone, there will be electric scooters and bikes to ride and a stunt show.

Another of the highlights of the festival will be the Parabounce — a one-person helium balloon which allows the rider to jump more than 30m in the air. Charlton Athletic FC will be in the sports zone together with martial arts experts.

There will be a global village, craft fair, garden zone, puppet shows, an astronomy roadshow, wall of art, plays, dance shows and the amazing green energy machine.

And there is more. On the lake people can try their hand at sailing, windsurfing, rowing and canoeing, as well as sub-aqua diving in a special tank.

The festival takes place on the weekend of July 5 and 6 from 10am to 6pm.

Entry to the festival is free and car parking costs £4 for the whole day.
