REMANDED: A man was remanded in custody at Dartford Magistrates’ Court on June 10. Antony Sweetman, aged 18, of Waterdales, Northfleet, pleaded not guilty to stealing a Ford Escort and driving it and a motorbike while disqualified and without insurance on May 31. Sweetman was refused bail. The case was adjourned until June 24.
NEW PRIEST: St Edmund’s Church, in Temple Hill, Dartford, is to have a new priest. Current curate, the Rev Sue Brewer, 47, will be ordained priest at Rochester Cathedral on Saturday. The mother-of-three has completed two years’ training and will expect to be at St Edmund’s for three or four years before becoming a vicar.
EXPANSION PLANS: Dimples Day Nursery in Green Street Green Road, Darenth, hopes to boost the number of children attending its teaching sessions. Staff hope to increase the number of children from 50 to 71. The nursery made an application to Dartford Council for permission to increase its quota of children at the end of May.
SCHOOL FENCE: Knockhall Primary School, in Eynsford Road, Greenhithe, could have a new high fence built around its perimeters. A 1.8m-high fence would replace an old one along Abbey Road and Alexander Road. Dartford Council received an application for the go-ahead on June 3.
