ANTI-SOCIAL behaviour in the area hit the national stage with the Dartford MP calling on the Prime Minister for more bobbies on the beat to tackle the problem.

During Prime Minister’s Question Time, Dr Howard Stoate called on Tony Blair to recruit more beat officers as a priority to deal with the problem of anti- social behaviour.

He also asked what Mr Blair’s policy was to reduce crime and whether he envisaged increasing police presence now and in the future.

Mr Blair said the new anti-social behaviour bill would give the police more power to combat anti-social behaviour and provide drug testing services in the country’s main crime areas.
