A FIFTEEN-YEAR plan to rejuvenate Bromley town centre goes out to consultation on Monday (Nov 17).

Bromley Council has produced a draft area action plan aimed at making the town one of London's main metropolitan centres.

This includes renovating the high street, extending the Glades shopping centre and the building of 2,000 new homes.

Portfolio holder for local economy Councillor Julian Benington said: “We believe the plan will help to create a more attractive and successful town by ensuring a balance of commercial, residential, leisure and community facilities, reinforcing its status as one of London’s main centres.”

Copies of a summary of the plan have been sent to residents and businesses and are available at all libraries in the borough as well as online at bromley.gov.uk/BromleyTownCentreAAP

After consultation ends on February 6 next year a final plan will be made and sent to the Government for examination by an independent planning inspector.

Please, Please, Please dont knock down Bromley North Station and get rid of the Market and replace it with some boring office block that you can get in somewhere like Croydon!

I've just looked at the map on the Bromley site, and this looks exactly like what you are going to do!? This is one of the nice things about Bromley, that this little bit of the town is just a bit old fashioned (and no, I am not old). I love it that way.

If you replace this with Office Blocks, then that part of the town will be just like anywhere else. Its not all about making money, the character of the town is important as well.
