THE world is rapidly running out of natural resources, according to a report.

It claims more than three quarters of the world’s people are now living in nations where use of resources has outstripped their ability to produce more.

And the Living Planet Report, published every two years by charity the WWF (World Wide Fund for Nature), shows that the UK has the 15th biggest ecological footprint on the planet.

Americans and people from the United Arab Emirates have the biggest impact.

Director general of WWF International James Leape said: “If our demands on the planet continue to increase at the same rate, by the mid-2030s we would need the equivalent of two planets to maintain our lifestyles.”
